I am a new member on that forum.

I have L-S 5V-1A mainboard. I wwant to flash my BIOS.
The current version is "J1-002". I have a new BIOS from web "J3-6".
I have tried to flash my BIOS with that.

I used:
AWDflash v. 5.33
AWDflash v. 7.22
AWDflash v. 7.41 (recommended!)
Uniflash v. 1.34...
Always there is a comm: "unknown flash type!"
and in UNIflash thete is a question: "is write protect FlashROM disabled"...
But on my mainboard there is no write-protect FlashROM jumpers..?
In BIOS there is no options for protect/unprotect flashROM!
I use manual downloaded from website only!

Need help!!!

Your BIOS chip might be 12V, while your jumpers are set to 5V.

Yes, jumper JROM1 (flash ROM voltage selector) is set to 5V...
May I safely set it to "12V"?

Locate your Bios Flashrom at your board and peel of the Award sticker .
Then look at the numbers printed directly onto the Chip .
If it has a model number starting with 28 then it's a 12V - if it's starting with 29/39/49 then 5V

OK, at the bottom of FlashROM there are numbers:
72C414K
SN74F245N
???
And another small chip in the FlashROM socket with a number:
M36522
?
So, I do not know what that means...
And may I have stiil change 5V to 12V jumper for FlashROM on my mainboard?

SNxxxxx only appears ON the sticker. Please peel it off.

Looks like you're looking at the wrong chip. 74F245 is a bus transceiver.

I use manual for this mainboard from the Web... There is one and only
BIOSchip in the socket at the mainboard! With hologram "AWARD PCI/PnP..." etc.
After I got BIOSchip out of its socket I saw another small chip inside,
with a number: M36522 with 2x10 (?) pins.
If more information is need - I try to attach mainboard foto next letter, OK?

P.S. How to attach graphics file to my new letter? I click at [Img] but what next?

Peel off the "AWARD" label from the BIOS chip and look what's printed directly on the chip.

I wonder if this is related to his other post - RE: Keyboard problem?

I removed "AWARD" label and there are numbers on the BIOSchip:

MX 27C1000PC-70
M36522
C9613 VPP=12.5V

I set the jumper "JROM" to 12V, used AWDFLASH v.7.41, v.8.26, biosfile "J3-6.BIN"
for flashing and... "Unknown Flash type" on screen! Flashing BIOS failed, of course...
Next I will try with UNIFLASH...

KachiWachi: I have another, unused mainboard "ATC-5000" with the problem You've seen at my other post "No keyboard...".

P.S. I made a mistake in one of my previous post: there is "M36522" at the bottom of BIOSchip; in the BIOS socket there is a small chip (and four or five such small chips at whole of this mainboard (L-S 5V-1A)) with numbers: 72C414K, SN74F245N!

27xxxx means (E)PROM - so it's not flashable. You have to replace the chip with a flashable one if you want new BIOS.

Well, thank You, Rainbow!
Any kind of 128KB BIOSchip? Flashable, of course..?

The most widely used chips such as Winbond W29EE011, SST 29EE010 or Atmel AT29C010 should work, maybe the older Macronix MX28F1000P will work too.

Yesterday I hot-swap flashed my "5V-1A" mainboard with a new BIOSchip AT29C010 succesfully!

Only one, but important B-) hint:
- A new BIOSchip must be 4-5 times pressed back&again into the BIOS socket before starting "hiot-flashing (when comp does not run, of course); new BIOSchips usually have got their pins too wide positioned. It can be hard to put (press) a new chip directly into the socket.
Additional, flasher's hands are shaking and wet..!

P.S. Individually thanks to Rainbow (Ondrej Zary), nothing can be done with my mainboards without his patience to my requests!
