I want to install Windows XP on a firewire connected harddisk; but the installationprogram says that it is not possible but that probable solutions are to change the configuration in my BIOS (award BIOS 2.1.b; on a Pentium III) or get additional software. I can't find the 1EEE 1394 in the BIOS (but my English is not BIOS-compatible so perhaps it IS there). So, do I need to update the BIOS; or the firewiredriver? Or change something in the BIOS? (and how?, my computering skills are stuck at Babbage Plus)

I highly doubt you will find a way to make it work. Since it's a PIII, I'm assuming firewire support is through a PCI card, and therefore not seen in BIOS. About your only chance would be if the motherboard had built-in firewire and could be selected as a boot device in BIOS.
Flash your BIOS at your own risk.
