Need bios
After upgrading to 3.13 I am having the same cpu utilization problem. It even occurs in windows vista. Specifically, it is not a "windows process" that is using the cpu but hardware interrupts. This is not seen in (xp) task manager but can be seen in other process explorers. I suppose I too need to change the bios but there is now NO bios on the HP site.

I use 3.13. -> High Cpu Utilization
I debug bios . 3.13 is for southbridge sb400. You can get information when boot.
but my southbridge is ati sb450. and bios flash is 3.14 ( clear letter on bios flash ). and ati sb450 ( clear letter on motherboard )
High Cpu Utilization because IDE control and MS UAA Driver use same ( bus & pci & F )
You trun off MS UAA , Cpu Utilization get low.
Updata bios . first get backup, no backup no updata. ( Dvd rw is total loss for I debug. )

sb450 use 3.13 , install MS UAA Driver 100% get High Cpu Utilization,
sb400 use 3.14 , information unknow. I dont have the motherboard.

okay... They shipped boards with new hardware but with the old bios. Not very clever. I begin to see a pattern here...
Here's the main thread on this board BTW:
