I'm trying to flash my BIOS using the drivers and direction on Gateways web site for my Gateway Computer. According to the direction I'm to insert the floppy disk that I have copied the download from Gateway onto into the A drive when I'm restarting the computer. Well, when I do that, all I get is a screen that show "Non System Disk or Disk Error" and will not load up.

:?: Can you shared with me what I can do to get this done?

FYI - I'm told that this need to be done in order to add another hard drive to this old 1998 Gateway computer, which is my goal!

Sounds like the floppy isn't bootable, so you must have missed a step in the making of it.
Flash your BIOS at your own risk.

The download from Gateway should contain the Bios flash files + a utility to create a bootable floppy
Please re-read the instructions from Gateway !!

I thank the two of you for your replies.

1 - In re-reading the instruction I'm not able to see anyting that was skiped over.

2 - In looking in Window Explorer I see the downloaded folder and see a "Iflash" application. In seeing this folder I'm assuming this is the one your talking about.

When this Gateway computer was ordered, my then computer guy order it with Windows 98 and when he received it he changed it to Windows NT.

:?: Could this have someting to do with it?

In reading off the Internet, it appears that their is a card made that can be installed to handle the BIOS and solve this situation.

:?: Do you if the card will work?
