All H.T. chips I've seen are Macronix MX28F1000P compatible. They require 12V on the VPP pin not only to flash but also to detect by UniFlash (or some other flasher).

OK, I'll let you know what happens. If it does work it's OK, if it doesn't I'll do what I originally planned: ditching this &^&%&^%#%# board.
