I believe this is a FYI board but I don't know what model it is. When it posts it displays VIA-598 MVP3 VER:1.2-I would this be the boards revision?

I also would like to find a bios update so i can support larger hard disks, is this the latest bios.

The FYI website doesn't seem to be maintained so any help would be greatly appreciated.

;) cheers

I have this version here:
MVP3 VER:1.3-I
02/04/1999-VP3-586B-W877-2A5LEF3FC-00

I patched it for you for large HDD support here:

The change from 1.2 to 1.3 means exactly a BIOS update.

ajzchips you are a life saver :o

The bios you gave me has solved a couple of problems I have with my board such as Win2k not being able to install and support for larger drives. I am very grateful.

cheers dude,

I believe you're right... best would be a link to this thread, I suppose... done.

As a matter of fact, I suggest this be done with all the .txt files at http://wims.rainbow-software.org.

:? I have come up with a board that is not a Full Yes board, via doing a google search:

http://www.wimsbios.com/index.htm?/HTML1/zeling.html
xx/xx/xxxx-VP3-586B-W877-2A5LEF3FC-00 ZL-M5V5

So is this one of the strings that matches several different boards, or a situation like PC Chips (i.e. a long list of "rebaggers")???

Nice research... :)

The Zeling BIOS I found is:

BIOS Message: ZL-M5V5 (VIA MVP3) , M5V5-002.BIN
BIOS ID: 02/04/1999-VP3-586B-W877-2A5LEF3FC-00

BTW, lots of Zeling stuff over here, including this board's manual:
http://web.archive.org/web/*sr_1nr_167/ ... 6.174.122/*

The m5v5.zip (manual) link is temporarily down, so we'll have to try again tomorrow.

Got another lead thanks to the M5V% name:

Digging in. Wish me luck, I don't read Chinese...
