Hi :-))

can anyone help me to obtain the correct update for my board? I want to install a new Seagate HDD which isn't recognized 8O .

The BIOS tool of this site found out the following:

c't PCI-Optimierer Version 3.03.00
(c) Georg Schnurer, Redaktion c't, 1993..1998

Searching PCI-Devices (CFG_Type 1)
Bus Nr. 00h
00 0 Vendor=Intel Corporation No PCI-INT
Device=82439TX TTX Chipset (P54), Cache/DRAM Controller, Rev=01h
07 0 Vendor=Intel Corporation No PCI-INT
Device=82371AB PIIX4 Function 0: ISA Bridge, Rev=01h
07 1 Vendor=Intel Corporation No PCI-INT
Device=82371AB/EB PIIX4/4e Function 1: EIDE Controller, Rev=01h
07 2 Vendor=Intel Corporation INT D=IRQ 10
Device=82371AB/EB PIIX4/4e Function 2: USB Controller, Rev=01h
07 3 Vendor=Intel Corporation No PCI-INT
Device=82371AB PIIX4 Function 3: I²C Bus Bridge, Rev=01h
09 0 Vendor=OPTi Incorporated No PCI-INT
Device=C861h -- new device ID, Rev=10h
0A 0 Vendor=S3 Incorporated INT A=IRQ 9
Device=86C775 TRIO64V2DX PCI GUI Accelerator, Rev. 01, Rev=04h

BIOS ID displayed at the lower left side when booting:

09/01/97-i430TX-8661-2A59IG0DC-00

I'm really lost inside this "jungle" and would appreciate any advice!!

Thanks for your attention

Looks like GigaByte GA-586TX3. Patched BIOS at http://wims.rainbow-software.org/ supports HDDs up to 128GB.
Patched and tested BIOSes are at http://wims.rainbow-software.org

Hi :-))

meanwhile I have downloaded the zipped update for Gigabyte GA-586TX3. After updating the BIOS
my new HDD is recognized. However, in BIOS several functions are not longer available. Using
HDD auto dectection causes the computer to hang as well as the first menu with the list
of drives.

Is there any chance to obtain a BIOS file which matches the original?

Thanks
Chris

Old files are at http://www.giga-byte.com/support/dis586 ... kdis586tx3
If you want to try a patched version of one of those, let us know. :)
