This is system is under construction. albatron motherboard KX 400+pro with a serial ata highpoint raid adapter card. OS is FreeBSD. On power up the system shows no primary hd however the card does recognizes the hard drive.

The system will not get past the message "unknown flash type"

4/12/2003 Update. I have attempted to update the bios. Used awdflash.exe
and kx400105.bin. Got unknown flash type.

Finale installlment , if anyone is interested. The "unknown flash type" was dip switch incorrectly set on the motherboard. The documentation was not clear.
Albatron tech support was excellent and cleared that up. Assisted by the tech support I attempted to reflash the bios. We concluded that the board may have a defect and I am sending it back for replacement.

Check if there's a flash write protect jumper on the board and set it to unprotected position.

Is that the same as a clear CMOS jumper?

No it isn't. It just cuts off the flashing voltage.

Then my motherboard does not have such a jumper. I will get to your suggested webpages today. I have emailed Albatron support and awaiting reply. Thank you for your suggestions.
