I've read the posts http://www.wimsbios.com/phpBB2/viewtopi ... ht=ms+6119 and http://www.wimsbios.com/phpBB2/viewtopi ... ht=ms+6119 but still have problems.

Firstly you state that the 1.1 bios is the jumpered version. However the mobo I have isn't jumpered - the CPU spped is settable in the bios.

Secondly both types of bios update complains that the checksum isn't correct which is why I am writing this message. Which do I use?

BIOS ID string?

This is jumper-free BIOS:
08/03/2000-i440BX-W977-2A69KM4AC-00
W6119MJ V2.9 120100

This is standard BIOS:
08/21/2000-i440BX-W977-2A69KM4AC-00

Hmmm.

I'm at home now - I had to get the last bus out of Newcastle:-/

I'm not too sure, but I can tell you that it is an 'upgraded' Packard Bell machine. Unfortunately she doesn't know which bits are upgraded.

All the downloadedable manuals from the MSI site make a mention of a VMODE1 jumper, but the actual location of this jumper has the location for the pins but no pins are present. Also there are no jumpers on the board leading me to believe that the board is the plug and play version - BIOSWizard seems to confirm this suspicion.

However, like I said in my first post, neither of the two types of update seem to be correct because of the error it gives.
