Help finding right bios

I have a pcchips m817lmr 1.0 m/b with the ali magic 1647 chipset. This board does not have the ali magic 1645 chipset that the other generic boards like it have (amptron k7-817 etc). I have been to the pcchips web site and the new bios they have listed for the m817lmr (020208s.rom) seems to be the wrong file size. Keep getting error message, and it will not flash. Does anyone know where I might find the right bios update, so that I can use a bigger hd and anthon xp processor.
Thanks Joe

Interesting. On the main page of PcWare:
http://www.pcware.com/english/home.htm

this board is listed with the 1647, but if you go to the product page it says 1645 again. weird.

What is your complete exact bios ID string that shows up in the lower left corner if you start up the board?

The M817LMR at pcchips is listed with the M1647 chipset.

I've looked in the 020208S.rom at pcchips (which is for the M817LMR) with a hex viewer, it has ELITEGROUP in there somewhere.

The only Socket462 board with ALI chipset at ECS has got an M1645 chipset, yet the bios file is called 020208.rom. I don't know what to make of this. Something screwy going on. What else is new...

Hm, that didn't help. Try running bios agent and post results.

I found evidence of an ECS K7AMA with the same chipset confusion as you. The board is listed as an Ali 1645 chipset on the ECS.tw page, but on this page, it's listed as a M1647 North Bridge, M1535D+ South Bridge. This would correspond to the last code in the BIOS id string.

Could just be a newer PCB. I'd email bluesmoke and ask if they know the circumstances.

#^$% PcChips. Safest bet is for you to order a new pre-flashed BIOS chip. However, the K7AMA doesn't show BIOS revisions for anything other than v1.X. Get the latest BIOS, and I think a program called AMIBCP will let you look at the bios id string in the new bios.
