Hi,

I have a
60 GB Fujitsu MHS2060AT Harddrive in my PII 400 MHz Notebook. And it is not recognized.

My Bios Data:

Award Modular BIOS v4.51PGM (1984-1999)
V1.17 02/11/2000
Award Plug and Play BIOS Extension v1.0A
02/11/2000-BANISTER-2A69NC2AC-00

I could not find a newer upgrade for my BIOS. Can I resolve my Problem when I order a BIOS upgrade kit at www.unicore.com??
And will this upgrade kit surely work?

I appreciate your help.

Greetings, Harry

Google search says this BIOS string is a Chicony MP995 notebook. Chicony built laptops for other people but no longer support them.
Some info is available at http://www.orphanlaptops.com/chicony.htm
I can find and patch the same BIOS you have;
BIOS ID string: 02/11/2000-BANISTER-2A69NC2AC-00
BIOS OEM string: V1.17 02/11/2000
found at http://www.databest.fi/mp995dwn.htm which has drivers as well.
I'll send that patched BIOS to you in a short while.

Hi,

as you you have seen, I have already applied this patch. I know this sh*t with chicony, so yesterday I posted a request at orphanlaptops.myforum.net. But I do not think that they can help me. Makes it sense to buy a BIOS at eSupport.com?? Because I think that they do not know Chicony's hardware architecture.

Thanks a lot

What they have at that site is not a patch, it's a BIOS. We have a tool which can remove some bugs from that BIOS by patching it. I have done that and sent it to you by email.

Hi,

I did not read your message exactly... Sorry. I received your eMail and will immideately try to flash my bios.

I will use this command from my bootdisk:

awdflash 995V117x.BIN /cc /cd

Is this right?

Thanks a lot

Yo man!

Thx! The patch has worked!
Know I can install my system of choice- FreeBSD NetBSD windows and Linux on one notebook! Juhuu!
Can I send the patched BIOS to my hardware vendor (MaxData) that they probably put it on their ftp?

Hi,

Because my hard disk crashed and windows XP/2000 never worked great with ACPI, I am planning to update the bios (1.11) of my MP995.

However, I have to choose between: I can buy a 20 GB HDD too of course, but I don't know if the 1.17.1 will support that... and in any way, 60GB would be nicer :)

I don't know if it was hard to patch this bios, so I don't know if I can ask this to you guys, but wouldn't it be great to combine the 2 fixes in 1 patched 1.17.1 release :) ?

Thanks a lot!

This patched 1.17.1 works great! I now have a big hard disk with a good working ACPI bios. Thanks a lot!
