How to use BIOS backup files?

I've been looking for an upgrade to my Award BIOS (for a Compaq) and found only a backup file (with .0 extension). Could anyone tell me how I can use the file to upgrade my computer's BIOS?

The only bios that will run on your Compaq id a version from Compaq.
