I am trying to install a 60GB drive that has been formated with FDISK into a system using an Asus P2B motherboard (not fake version).

Anyway when I turned the system on for the first time it hung at the drive detection screen. I shut it down and needed to take the battery out for a while to clear the CMOS and disconnect the 60GB drive before the thing would boot again.

Using the 1004.003 BIOS from the Asus site. The question is this. Am I experiencing trouble because of a BIOS limitation or is is something else?

Do you mean 1014 beta 003 BIOS?

Also cannot remember if I used the version with or without the Harware Manager.

The BIOS was flashed quite sometime ago..

Hmmm - this Bios is reported to work fine with HDD up to 120GB

What's your HDD ?

If the Bios hangs try to press Reset button - maybe the HDD needs too long toinitialize and is not ready at the time the Bios tries to detect it

The hard drive is a 60GB Seagate drive ripped from an HP Pavillion. I will try the reset button, but I have a feeling that I might be pulling the battery again....

It should work fine - I've tested it with 80GB Seagate some time ago.
