I currently have an award modular bios v4.51pg dated 03/16/98. it will not support hd>32 gb and also i get a message when installing windowsxp that it is not compatible. is there an upgrade out there to resolve. thanks for any help you can provide.
the chipset is intel440ex/lx rev3
bios id is 03/16/98-i440lx-w997-2a69jwobc-04
bios update w6lxb motherboard
Wintac/Edom W6LXB board. I can't find any BIOS for this board...
Use drive overlay software from HDD manufacturer or add-on PCI EIDE controller with own BIOS for HDDs over 32GB.

You are running the last bios Wintac ever released for this board, there's no newer version.
Rainbow: if you want it let me know.
Harddisk: http://www.promise.com will solve that problem.
Windows XP: although you have no ACPI support, you should be able to install XP if you must.

Strange, but his BIOS does have ACPI support. Perhaps incompatible with WinXP, but the support's there...
There's a beta: 2A69JW0G.BIN, dated 5/1998, which might actually work on his board. Wintac often changed BIOS ID strings with their updates (last-letter changes).

If you have a spare (and compatible) BIOS chip, and "master" the art of hotflashing, I'd give it a try if I were you.
DO NOT risk flashing this BIOS on your original BIOS chip.
If you're willing to try it out, send me an email request.

http://wims.rainbow-software.orgedwin lists two untested versions, read the .txt file first to see what version you need (1Mbit/2Mbit). Please report the results.
