I recently bought a 80 gig samsung hd. I cannot get my motherboard to detect the HD.I am hoping that upgrading the bios will fix this problem. (I made BI98117E update from www.zida.com but still not work:( )

Ouch. It's an AMI BIOS. Can't be patched.
Anyway, the other day I had big problems with a Samsung 80GB HDD (I believe they only make one model this size) on a board with a 2003 BIOS.
Problem was the jumper definitions sticker on the Samsung isn't quite clear. You'll need 2 jumpers to get it to its full capacity (Master mode).
I'd go to Samsung's site if I were you. It made things clearer, and I got the drive to work ok.
AMI was quite a pioneer in large HDD support (>64GB), way before AWARD was. It's highly probable you'll get that HDD working on that board with that BIOS. You might have to manually insert the HDD parameters, though.

Thanks for your help. I don't need uptade (only samsung dm_creator) solved my problem. Thanks again.
dm_creator ? Sounds like a program for producing our old friend Disk Manager - is that OK with NT-based OSes?darkofwhite wrote:Thanks for your help. I don't need uptade (only samsung dm_creator) solved my problem. Thanks again.
Tested patched BIOSes. Untested patched BIOSes.
