Powering up without the keyboard disables the BP patch - that's why the 32GB bug is still there.

Then a new BIOS patched with a different tool is the only way to solve this problem?

Yes. You'll have to disconnect your HDD to access the floppy.

I suggest Rainbow's patch, then, using a conservative "upto 64GB only" option.

Hello,

64 GByte would be enough. What about the floppy drive - willl the patched BIOS only be able to use it when there is no hard drive attached, or did I get you wrong?

OK. File has just been repatched. Check the previous URL. Now it ends in "_64GB".

I meant that if you want to flash your current BIOS, disconnect your HDD first, so you can at least access the floppy for patching. Use the keyboard trick if you must, then reconnect it after the FDD is accessed.

Hello,

and thank you - I'll test it as soon as possible.
I hoped you meant that with "You'll have to disconnect your HDD to access the floppy" - but it was already clear to me that I would have to flash with no hard drive connected because BIOS hangs during boot-up with the hard drive attached!

Sure - you never know how stupid the person you are talking to really is. ;-)

In the meantime I tried to program the BIOS chip with the new patched BIOS using Uniflash on MS-DOS - same result as before: The first half of the chip didn't match the first half of the file during verify.
I then took the chip to the uiniversity and asked a friend of mine to write the new BIOS image onto it (tihs way it's cheaper than at the electronics store - you just have to know the right people ;-)) - and it works fine. No error messages during boot-up, the 45 GByte drive is detected correctly - great work, guys!
I don't know what's up with that f****** chip/board/combo of these components - but I think I'll stop asking me this question now as it works.

Thanks a lot,

Aragorn

Great. The BIOS you've just tested is now "official" :-)
