I recently purchased a set of Gateway E3400 Corfu II motherboards (63-0100-006201-00101111-101100-SOLANO-OAAVEP02-Y2KC-5) and SL52R processors. The mobo's recognize the processors, but on booting give me an error message BSP CPU ...... Microcode Error.
Any good ideas? I have a new BIOS upgrade for this board, but until I can install it, there is nothing I can do.

Can you borrow a different type of CPU ?

Thank you for the suggestion. That is exactly what I did. I found a 733MHz FC-PGA chip in another computer that is a dual processor one (which works for the moment with only one) and used it to update the BIOS from version P02 to P09, after which I mounted the 1GHz chip again... and NO MICROCODE error!
But it is still weird, because of the way it boots (just gateway I guess) because it shows boot progress on a bar, and the bar starts at 50%, goes to 60 then 50 then 40 and then finishes...LOL, must be the way gateway works.
BUT, it works great.......
