Need help updating a bios so I can install an 80 G drive. I am including the following information re bios.
BIOS Manufacturer : Award Modular BIOS v4.51PG
BIOS ID : 07/01/1999-i440BX-8671-2A69KG0DC-00
BIOS Date : 07/01/99
BIOS OEM Signon : Intel 440BX/ZX AGPSet BIOS for 6BXC V.2.9
BIOS ROM Size : 256K
Chipset : Intel 440BX/ZX rev 3
Super I/O Chip : ITE 8671 found at port 279h

When I boot the pc it hangs trying to detect the hard drive so I thought maybe a bios update may help. However I am having a tought time finding the right one if that is what i need

Yep was able to update the motherboard bios and it now detects the hard drive at start up but it hangs at the Award Confuration screen displaying LBA UDMA 2. I went into the bios and tried to autodetect the drive but it displays only the number 2 after detection and then freezes.

seriously need help or maybe its time to give up :?

Did you flash the official F3 or the beta F4c release?

I checked F4c with BP's utility, just in case the problem detecting "some" large (>64GB) HDDs could have been the problem, but it said it was already ok.

I used the f3 - the other wouldn't work - I notice now that when I boot up I hear 2 beeps - not sure if that means anything

You have to force F4C. Part of the BIOS string was changed.

I tried to do it with the flash it came with but it gave me a message about the board not being supported and was unable to use it . How can I force it ????
