Hi there!

I just got this board; the writing on it identifies it as an Epox EP-3VBA. I'm going to connect a 60-GByte-or-larger drive to this board (60 GByte are sufficient, more would be nice); but when trying to detect the the connected hard drive the BIOS hangs. Running the built-in IDE HDD Auto Detection function also hangs the machine, and manually entering the drive parameters doesn't work, too. All tests were done with a 45-GByte IBM DTLA307045 (the larger drive is not yet available).
Unfortunately Epox doesn't offer BIOS updates for this board (I can't find it on their website and on ftp.epox.com there is am manual for this board, but no BIOS updates).
I don't like disk managers and the like, so a BIOS supporting at least 60 GByte drives on this board would be a great thing.

I hope anyone can help me!

Thanks,

Aragorn

Hi Denniss,

thanks for your reply - I didn't find this file because I only looked at Epox' international website (thought that anything available should be available from there).
The file you posted a link to seems to belong to the Epox model 6VBA (look at the file name!), which is a slot-1 board based upon Via's Apollo Pro133 chipset (see http://www.epox.de/techsupp/produkt.asp ... 20Slot%201 ). The board I'm planning to use is instead based upon the "normal" Apollo Pro+ chipset (see http://www.epox.de/techsupp/produkt.asp ... 20-%20S370 ). When you click the "Downloads" link on the latter page (describing my board) then you get a page offering the manuals for my 3VBA and the 6VBA BIOS image files; clicking the Download link an the 6VBA desription page gives you access to the same BIOS files (same URL as posted by you).
I think this must be an error in Epox' website (two boards with different chipsets will hardly work with the same BIOS)! Or are you really sure that this BIOS will work for me?

Additionally, in the "Download directory" on Epox' server ( http://www.epox.de/dl/techsupp/ ) there aren't any files which seem to match the 3VBA by name.

Hi,

I updated my BIOS with the file Denniss mentioned - and everything works fine. Thank you!
