I have a touch screen PC Unit. It had a card reader on the side. I know it has a MMX233 CPU and is running 128 PC100 memory (laptop style) Its a very interesting unit. I would like to find more out about it and maybe if possible get a faster CPU in it. It is running a basic version of XP ok but I'm sure a CPU boost wouldn't go a miss

I've been told its a StealthTouch PioneerPOS and would love to find a user manual for it. I want to remove the card scanner but it will only boot if this is connected but it looks like its meant to be removable.

Any help would be very welcome.

Thanks

Well, let me try. Maybe this manual can be useful:
http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:kI ... E%22&hl=en
CPU:
Intel P54C/P55C 133/166/200/233 MHz,
Intel Low Power 166/266 MHz,
AMD K6-2 266/300/333/366/400 MHz,
Idt Winchip 2-3D 200/266 MHz
System Chipset: Intel 430TX core logic controller
ROM PCI/ISA BIOS (2A59IA5E)
I have a BIOS very close, but different:
(2a59ia5e)
10/18/2000-i430TX-W977TF-2A59IA5EC-00
PENTIUM.6x86.AMD-K5.AMD-K6(tm).AMD-K6(tm)-2.AMD-K6(tm)-2+.AMD-K6(tm)-III.IDT WinChip .Tillamook.Rise mP6(tm).Rise mP6(tm) II.Rise Family 5.Rise Family 6.6x86MX.Cyrix M II/IBM 6x86MX.Cyrix MediaGX With MMX
Looks like an AMD K6-2 400MHz processor can be an option for you.

Yep I've seen that but when I open the page it comes out as gibberish and no pictures show. The text is also all over the place. Think I'll have to strip it down and see if there are any hidden makers marks. I couldn't see any when I took the back off but maybe there are some under other components.

Thanks

well i can't help with the whole upgrade thing but i have the same STPOS model and mine did not come with the card reader although i wish it did... anyway what your going to want to do is take 2 jumpers and on the port where the card reader it jump the black to brown and the red to orange. and it will boot up

hope this helps you and if you do find witch CPUs are compatible with the unit let me know. I'm running on 166Mhz it did have a 200Mhz but it fried wen the fan went out so i swapped in what i had

can you make a bios backup of your unit with awdflash or uniflash and email te file to me? Maybe it's possible to put in additional support/detection for AMD K6-2 processors. If I read the original postings right,
Intel P54C/P55C 133/166/200/233 MHz,
Intel Low Power 166/266 MHz,
AMD K6-2 266/300/333/366/400 MHz,
Idt Winchip 2-3D 200/266 MHz
AMD K6-2 400 (with multiplier set to 2x internally translated to 6x per AMD) looks to be the maximum.
