Hello,

Im looking for a BIOS update as I am having problems with the ACPI. I get the following error message 4 times in the event viewer:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: ACPI
Event Category: None
Event ID: 4
(also as Event ID:5)

Description:
AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to read from an illegal IO port address (0x71), which lies in the 0x70 - 0x71 protected address range. This could lead to system instability. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance.

Motherboard ID: 09/20/2000-8363-686-IA6LMC0DC-00
Motherboard Name: Chaintech 7AIA
BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG
Motherboard Chipset: VIA VT8363 Apollo KT133

I have visited the Chaintech site but can only find a updates and manuals for the 7AIA5 mobo. This is not the same board. For a start the 7AIA5 has dropped the ISA slot and replaced it with a CNR. The manual doesn't relate fully either.

Any help locating a suitable update would be apreciated.

Cheers,

Andy

After a great amount of serching for my own motherboard I think I found one. The only update I have found was here: http://mobokive.dyndns.org/Archive/Chaintech/bios/7aia/ the best part is it's free!
let me know if this works for you :)

Thanks for the post. I apreciate you're letting me know. However, I've managed to cure my problem (ACPI error in WinXP) another way.

But thanks anyway, I downloaded the BIOS update just in case! :D

All the best,

Andy

Are you cure your ACPI problem or is hidden only?
