cd rom not detected
try it, jumpered to master, connected alone on a properly connected ide cable
then get into the bios, use autodetect harddisks if you have it and/or make sure the disk entry is not set to none
hope this helps

if all else fails, try brute force

ok, let's get some things cleared out first:
1. Did you install the cdplayer yourself recently or was it in there and did it stop working?
2. Try booting from a floppy to see if dos can find your cdplayer : http://people.jyu.fi/~eejuviik/utils/boot622.exe (just download it, insert a floppy when it asks and boot from the floppy - if it's ok you get some message like cdrom installed)
3. if not, you probably should check the cable and jumper (as said in my previous message) - you've got power 'cause the light on the cdplayer comes on
4. if all this don't help you could include your mainboard model and bios version
