mobo serial is FR5009847202506 with another sticker reading 004 or possibly D04, and from this I have figured out that this is either a GVC or BCM mobo for Packard Bell, but not sure which.
I found a bios update on http://wims.rainbow-software.org for the BCM FR500 (to allow HD sizes upto 128Gb) which has the exact same bios id string, but further searching with google found that the BCM mobos are usually FR550 not 500 (GVC use the FR500).
I'm confused and need guidance before i flash the wrong bios.
AWARD BIOS v4.51PG 1984-1998
PENTIUM PCI/ISA SYSTEM BIOS VERSION:1.06 (#20636)
Bios ID: 10/21/1998-SiS-5598-W877-2A5IIG5CE-00
any help appreciated.
BIOS update neeeded: 10/21/1998-SiS-5598-W877-2A5IIG5CE-00
nevermind. have since found out that BCM and GVC are pretty much the same thing - the OEM Sign-on for this bios ID is "BCM Advanced Research (GVC) "
i found more info at http://www.supportbios.info/modelo.asp? ... &Idioma=EN and this indicates the same updated file as the one in the above post, so it must be the right one.
