Hi,folks

I'm looking for an update for my Award-BIOS, it will not accept the new 40GB HD. Before I had several 1,7GB HDDs. The internet-support of ASUS, they don't have better updates then Ver 0112XE, this didn't change anything. Please try to help me to use my "old" MoBo for the full use of the WD 400EB HDD. I don't like to depend on Ontrack's software. And I use Win 2000.

It's Asus TX97-XE board.
I can patch the latest BETA BIOS to support HDDs upto 64GB if you want. It's at your own risk.

Try BiosMan's patched BIOS - if it's tested and works. I can only patch 32GB bug at this time - his BIOS has 64GB bug patched too, so it should work upto 128GB.

Hi Jan,

You're great !! The bios-patch for TX97-XE is working fine under Win2k with full capacity of 40GB of both master and slave HDD's !!
Thanks a lot ! It's a very good feeling not having to depend on curios software-HDD-patches...:-))

Thank you BIOSMAN. It's cool to have a system with a nearly 5 year old motherboard that can still perform well, and utilize some of the latest and greatest hardware. :)

Hi, I'm looking for WD 60gb support with the TX97-E. So far I've found Biosman's 112XE_J2 and Rainbow's patched 0112 (for the TX97) but nothing specifically for the 'E' version.

Also, I need to mention that I have found an ASUS beta version which is later than 0112 and which includes ACPI support, version 1001E-03.

These BIOS'es all seem to have a bug whereby the max LBA configuration C/H/S=4111/255/63 (used with drives > 33gb) only works on the secondary IDE channel. All I really need is for the primary channel to work in this configuration (not 'Primary master failed') and I am set.

Where is the ACPI BIOS?

I have the 1001E-03 ACPI BIOS. It is not newer than the 0112e-01 BIOS. They both have the same core date and are practically identical. The main difference is that the 1001E-03 BIOS has ACPI support, but no build-in SCSI support.

I can patch either BIOS. Which one do you like? :)

P.S. Do not flash the TX97-XE BIOS on your TX97-E. It may kill you system!
