During installation of Win XP or win 2000 the computer fails to boot coming from shut down during the installation. It happens when I use a new MAXTOR 40GB hard drive or a new Seagate 80GB hard drive. Capacity limiting jumper setting is not helping. Where can I get a bios upgrade? My bios is AWARD MODULAR Bios V4.50PG 1984-1985. To what version should I upgrade?

This is the information that I see. I don't know if it's enough info;

AWARD MODULAR BIOS V4.50PG
1984-1985
Version 4.04 AGB800

Award Plug and Play Bios extension V1.0A

ROM PCI/ISA Bios (2A5L9F09)
CMOS Setup utility Award Software, INC.

Thanks

I think it's an OEM version of:
FIC PA-2001
FIC PA-2002
FIC PAC-2002
FIC PDA-2000
Post the complete BIOS ID String, please.

Try to locate the model name between PCI slots:

I think it's a PA-2002.

INT13h Extensions...Not present
=> Code not found: BIOS does not support HDDs up to 32GB!
Sorry, this BIOS is not patchable. According to Nicks there are three options:
- Third-party controller with its own BIOS
- Disc overlay software such as EZ-Drive or whatever your drive manufacturer provides
- (risky) find a motherboard with the same chipset and super-I/O with a later BIOS and try flashing that BIOS. Be prepared to kill the mobo this way.
