I've got an Asus mobo Xp athlon 40 sata fireball won't detect what bios flash update do i need oh BTW this is an ata mobo because the drive is supposed to be revers compatible.

I don't know a whole lot about bios. I really need to know what update to d/l i looked through the updates page but the links were broke.

It's not really easy to understand what you are asking.

Please specify what motherboard model you have and what kind of HDD. If your HDD is SATA then it has to be detected by the motherboard if SATA-controller is integrated into the chipset. It has to be detected by the SATA controller Bios, either as PCI card or chip integrated onto the motherboard.

The prob is the new hdd is sata and the mobo is ata
the sata should be reverse compatible but i think bios is the culprit because if this doesn't work and the people ask for there computer back i'll be out 60$ :cry:

you are out $60 unless you can sell that harddisk somewhere. The board has NO SATA connections.

You need a SATA controller card for PCI slot to be able to use this HDD. Contact your dealer, he may be able to exchange the SATA drive for a PATA variant.

WHAT this guy told me this sata was reverse compatible i have to get an ata from in in less than a week cause theses xxxxx xxxxx xxxxxx 2. Don't use profanity. And be polite, ... oderators. can't wait and I'm doing it for free I've done for them already than they know and to top it off the dude I'm getting parts from is very bussy
and i'll need to trade these for ata with him cause i'm not spending my money.
