Does anyone have version 3.14 for this Compaq/HP motherboard that I can use? Tech support asked me to load 3.13 to troubleshoot some memory problems (I had 3.14) and now my computer is soooo much slower and my CPU consistantly stays well above 60%-100% even at idle.

Also interestingly enough tech support does not even confirm the existance of 3.14 and I am 100% positive there is one, just not on the HP web.

baskozz hooked me up with 3.14.

In case you need it PM me. There is a HUGE difference in performance between 3.10/3.13 and 3.14 My performance tripled and my CPU usage went down from 60+ all the time to nearly 0

Same problem here. In fact, today some weeks after flashing 3.13 I took at look at my Motherboard and the bios was factory stamped 3.14. Someone emailed me a bios named 3.14 but the flash loader identifies it was a 3.13 including the November, 05 date.

Please let me know if you can provide a 3.14 bios, or even better, one unlocked and with the new ATI vidio bios already patch in. Thx! -TrueHeart

Biggest mistake of my life "upgrading" my A8AE-LE bios to the 3.13 on the HP website.

CPU usage it awful and fan speed is through the roof and they are way too noisey now.

If someone could send me the bios the board shipped with or this mystery 3.14 bios that is somewhere out there it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I have a working 3.14 bios file. Send me a PM with a valid email address and I send you the bios. Do NOT post your email address out in the open, some spambots are scanning the forum. I've fixed all the other email address links.

Winflash from esupport works, the bflash was reported not to work in one case so far:
http://www.esupport.com/techsupport/awa ... dutils.htm
If the bflash on the esupport site does not work for whatever reason use a more recent award flasher (I've been reported version 8.33 found on the MSI website works ok).

- This bios stops your CPU getting pegged at 100% (or 50% if dual-core).

- It stops your IDE from going beserk. The problem might be this board comes in 2 flavours, one with the SB400 southbridge and one with the SB450 southbridge. If you load the 3.13 bios on the SB450 southbridge board, all sorts of weird things happen.

- The new unknown device can be fixed by the AMD Away driver. AMD has released a null driver to make this go away, and it is available for download from MSI.
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/d ... 730&kind=1
Read the readme file in the download and follow the easy directions. It solved the problem entirely. No more unknown device and one new device "AMD Away" in System Devices.

The good thing is that it's a null driver--doesn't do anything, just makes the unknown device go away.

- If you press F11 instead of F1 the bios setup gives you more options for turning off the fan monitor. Example press f11 then go to advanced then scroll down to hardware monitor.

My system CPU is at zero while idle....but my FAN speeds are through the roof and noise level is intolerable.

At this point i will do anything to get the damn fan noise under control aside from disconnecting it. it is spinning non stop at 4800+rpm when hooked up to CPU header on motherboard since 3.13

For those of you without floppy drives this windows award flash utility worked for me.

Not sure if this forum allows live linking so replace the ** with tt and download this tool for painless floppyless bios updating
