First things first : Hello, nice to meet you. :)

The Daewoo CB581X-VI motherboard has the infamous Award 32GB bug.

Could the people-who-know-how make a patched BIOS fix ?
And if possible fix further, so far hidden, limits too ?

Daewoo CB581X-VI page (the one and only, unofficial, by myself - don't even think of official support)
Latest known BIOS : V.581.07

It's a junk motherboard (especially now given the age), but I got mail from quite a few people who would need that fix.
(shame on me, I should have asked this YEARS ago)

Note that I don't have this MB anymore, so I will have to wait for someone else to test it.

Great.

Since I basically have to update my page, notify those who mailed me, and wait for one of them to try and feedback... what should be considered the new HD limit ?

The limit on a patched 4.51 BIOS should be 128GiB=137GB. 32GiB and 64GiB bugs should be patched, but there are many variations of the code and sometimes the automatic patcher doesn't pick up one of the instances (e.g. size display in CMOS setup). This could mean you have to unplug the drive to use CMOS setup. For some reason WD drives have given us most trouble in the past.

As cp often reminds us, the limit doesn't really matter if you're running XP or Linux - you can install the 32GiB limit jumper and let the OS worry about it. ME only supports up to 128GiB anyway, but at least the patch should let you use all of an 80GB drive under W98 or ME. I still have a machine running W95 - Firefox 2.0 crashes!
