the flash applications did not work for me. i followed the instructions exactly. i guess i'm not sure what im doing? i normally can fix problems with my pc, and have good knowledge with pc's. ill admit i never really mess with bios because you can ruin your machine. i have never used bin files or updated bios without a .exe installer... and im running 3.13 and dont know how to use the BIN file which the version you 3.14 you sent was in. i would like to update it to 3.14 for speed purposes and more options...
im turning into a wreck... i am used to always knowing what im doing... im getting mad. AHHH, help!!!

which flash applications?
http://www.esupport.com/techsupport/awa ... dutils.htm
winflash, download. once downloaded double-click and unpack all files. once unpacked all files, copy the .bin file to the same folder where the winflash.exe is and double-click the winflash file, open the 314.bin and flash the new bios. This winflash comes with a help file, double-click that for more info/better instructions.

Thanks edwin for emailing me the BIN file.
Unfortunately, after burning the image onto a CD and inserting the disc into my CDROM nothing happened. I still have the BIOS ROM checksum error. My computer did not come equipped with a floppy drive. I've been reading other forums and they say I need a CUE file. Would you happen to have that? If not is there a way to flash the BIOS without being in DOS mode?
How can I make this work? My computer specs are:

My original problem was upgrading Vista 32-bit to Vista 64-bit. I have the 64-bit edition, however, my computer refused to format using that. It would revert to 32-bit edition. I also noticed my PC was running a CPU usage of 100%. I was not even online and it still said 100% CPU usage. I only had 38 processes running and still nothing changed. I re-heat sinked my CPU and nothing changed besides running a CPU temp from 94 F to 72 F. I got online after downloading OneCare for virus protection and consulted with the HP online support team. They told me to download the HP BIOS update v3.13 for "Windows XP". I was weary because I had Vista, but they instructed me that it made on difference. I did as they said and downloaded the new BIOS update. It ran and it flashed my BIOS. When the computer rebooted, there was no change in my CPU usage. I rebooted again and encountered a new error message:
Award BootBlock v1.0
Copyright(c) 2000, Award Software,Inc.
BIOS ROM Checksum error
Detecting IDE ATAPI DEVICE...
Found CDROM, try to boot from it...FAIL (X2)
Detecting Floppy device A media...
INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER_
Well unfortunately my computer did not come with recovery disks which would have made no difference. The recovery disks would not have been able to flash the BIOS. I tried the Windows Vista disc and still nothing. I got online via another PC on campus and found out that you had an updated BIOS version. Consequently, I asked for it and you supplied it for me. Well now I'm unable to use it. I'm wondering it will work. My keyboard is disabled at this point. How do I make use of the 314.BIN file? Is there any hope? I would appreciate any assistance that you could possibly offer. HP has no clue on what to do in this instance. They tell me that i've voided the warranty by upgrading to Vista and are charging me for their service. Please help me. If anyone else can help me with this I'd be most greatful.
Thank you,
Hannielaggie

I fear you are one of the few people that does need to get their board replaced by HP. I've seen this before once. If it doesn't pick up the cd properly there's nothing you can do. Maybe temporarely fitting a floppy drive might help but I'm not too sure. It's worth a try or waiting 2 weeks for swapping your board at HP (which should be under warranty).hannielaggie wrote:Please help me. I need the BIOS v3.14 update for my PC. I've already PM'd edwin.
