ECS mobo dead

Hi to all.
I've bought on ebay an ECS P4VXASD2.
It was advertised as WORKING.

Instead it's not working
Doesn't turn on.

It's a bios flashing related problem?

If i buy a flasher, i can save it?

Maybe, it all depends on how dead it appears to be.

Do you get no beeps at all when only fitting the CPU and power supply (no memory, video, keyboard, add-in cards or drives)?

Did you get any kind of warranty on it?

absolutely dead.

No leds, no fans, no beeps.

Anyway, i checked every IC with a lens, no one in damaged.

It's a relatively obsolete mobo, with SDR+DDR modules (from the age of transition)

I putted inside a celeron 2800, maybe this is the problem?
Shouldn't beep if it's an unsupported cpu?

None of the three different revisions supports a 2.8GHz Celeron. Yes that may be the problem, the board refusing to start at all with wrong CPU.

Aside from no 2.8G celery support, the 5.0 has issues with several memory modules, that may be the problem as well.

to detect an unsupported cpu it has to start at first.
does the atx psu turn on? it should even if there's nothing (no cpu, no ram, no vga) on the board.

i have the 3.3 revision.
The psu doesn't turn on.

So, maybe my celeron with 533 mhz fsb isn't supported?
The seller said that it's compatible.
I hate that seller
That seller haven't even checked, imo.

Do you suggest to gen another board or get a programmer (that can be useful later anyway)?

It clearly states that Prescott CPU are not compatible with this board. The newer 65nm seems to be incompatible, too.

Try to get a P4 Northwood without Hyper-Threading. Avoid P4 Celeron at all because they are really slow.

once again: does the psu turn on without cpu? before talking about an incompatible cpu we should find out if there's nothing else that's not working as it should. if the psu doesn't turn on even if there's nothing else connected than the bare mainboard then there might be a short on the mainboard somewhere.
btw: did you check the psu elsewhere?

the psu is currently working on my pc
tomorrow i'll try to turn on the mobo without nothing attached.

Anyway i'll be looking for a new mobo

I have a P4VXASD2 motherboard of my own. Can I use the latest celeron processor which is Intel Celeron D Processor 310

I believe that P4VXASD2 supports upto 400 FSB only. The Celeron D Processor 310 has a 533 FSB.

Can anyone advise me on this one. Thanks in advance.

Celeron D = Prescott core with 133 MHz Front Side Bus (FSB 533). 133 MHz FSB is supported only by motherboard revision 5.x, Prescott core is not supported at all.
