Is there any changes in bios hotflashing method when it deals with 384kb or 512kb? Im having difficulty hot flashing those bios at 384/512kb range.

Any inputs will be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

I've not ever hot flashed a 384kb file, but I have done a 512kb one on a
board with intel 82802AB chip using the flash860.exe utility...
It's good for rescue attempts like that as it lets you choose the flash
type & chipset from a menu if it doesn't detect it on execution...
There are other flashing utility versions that do it to, flash850, 855 etc etc..

there's no 384kb flash size. 512kb roms have an additional address pin compared to the 256kb ones (or might be completely different from the 256kb ones, like intel firmware hubs).
hotflashing 512kb roms in a mainboard that only supports 256kb roms might probably fail..

I was thinking he might mean like how some of the OEM bios's come
in a multiple of 32 & 64kb files that usually add up to 384kb, usually
for the 512kb chip..
I've not attempted to bother trying to hotflash such instances, only if
the rom/bin I was attemting to hotflash was a complete rom/bin of 512kb
size...

a ran across one asus p4 s478 mboard that the downloaded bios file from asus site is 384kb! maybe i failed due to 256kb mboard bios system that I used to flash the 384/512 kb chips. Is the memory line has something to do with this? Just asking.

there are 3MBit flash roms :( what a mess!
you can try flashing it on a 512kb rom board with the lastest awardflash (at least >8.29).
good luck!
