Have installed the latest bios from Aopen, monitor driver from LG, installed sis uvga3_383, tried the LCDmode.exe (doesn't do anything) -still can't get 1440x900 resolution for my LG L177WSB lcd monitor!

The sis utilities "driver mode settings" only shows CRT and LCD is not active (grayed out).

The latest Aopen bios i am running is here:
http://download.aopen.com.tw/Download.a ... n=5&DL=yes

Any chance of a bios fix for this?

thanks,

Jack

the bios provided by AOpen already contains a video bios that is recent enough (2.30.00 actually) to support widescreen. it is not a video bios issue.

Deinstall the SIS VGA driver, reboot and reinstall the recent driver. Those problems may exist if you install a new driver over an older driver without deinstalling.

Thanks, that worked!

-kind of strange because i had previously uninstalled and then reinstalled the driver, but this time i rebooted twice before reinstalling -maybe that made a difference?

BTW, does there exist a good driver cleaner that works with sis drivers? I have been using the guru3d driver sweeper on my home PC, but it does not support these sis IGP drivers...

thanks again,

Jack

The standard uninstaller should work fine with every software/driver installed. well, okay, it's not perfect but hey : that's windows. if anything goes wrong i'd complain at the software/driver provider and ask them to include a proper uninstaller.
