Hi!

I have an old Pentium 166mhz PC and want to use a 64GB HDD as the primary storage.

Here is some BIOS info:

Motherboard: DFI G586IPC Rev D.
BIOS Type: Award Modula BIOS v4.51PG
BIOS ID: 05/09/97-i430HX-2A59FD4HC-00

I have found a patched BIOS that supports HDD up to 64GB for this motherboard around this website,
however this BIOS is for the version that contains 512KB cache onboard (07/31/98-i430HX-2A59FD4GC-00) and my motherboard has 256KB cache onboard and a cache module slot instead.

Will that patched BIOS work on this motherboard?

Thanks in advance!

Nope. You can request a patch for your board however. Is there any location we can download a fresh bios for it?

Found the lastest BIOS version for the motherboard around the Internet (07/31/98-i430HX-2A59FD4HC-00) since it is no longer available at the DFI website.

Here is the location of the lastest BIOS (from DriverGuide) so it could be patched: http://www.driverguide.com/driver/detai ... 7X31SbzgLL

It looks like this one fell between the grid. Are you still interested in a patched bios? If so, what is the actual revision of your board? It should be visible printed on the board itself. For instance Rev D or Rev. DA

Sorry for the very late response.

In the first post of this thread, I mentioned the actual revision of the motherboard is D. Checked the inside of the computer to make sure.

As for the patched BIOS, for now I'm using the hard drive with the 32GB cap for now. Once the BIOS patch is available, I will remove the cap. Also this could help other users with the exact same model or similar since the one available around here is only for those motherboards that have 512KB onboard instead of 256KB.

Ok, I'll see if I can fix your bios then in the near future. Stay tuned.

Thank you very much!

The PC now passes the POST screen without the 32GB cap on the HDD and the 64GB capacity is now properly detected.
