moderators i bet u can place this somewhere better i dunt know much about this i just got accidently on this site and think u guys might know something more
i have bought a pc amd k6-2 500mhz 2 yrs ago with 9 gig hard disc
now yesterday i bought an 80 gig hard disc my bios dusnt recognise it
i downloaded a program wich said what kinda bios i have and what chipset but i cant get any further than this
chip set aladdin5-2a5kkb0dc-00
board/ bios alc0509 fsc
now i hope u guys respond quickly
how to solve to problem maybe bios update or is it just impossible .. how big can my drive be then all these questions ...

Looks very much like a BIOSTAR M5ALC (you should find this printed on the motherboard).
The BIOS update site for it is:

Also, try to find out whether you have the 1MB (1999) or 2MB (2000) version.

It's the 256KB (2mbit) board (128KB is 2A5KKB0FC) so the first file is for you. But it has still both 32GB and 64GB bugs. Patched BIOS sent.

thx altho im not very much further
im running XP so should i use a windows 98 boot diskette
and the bin file cannot be opened by isobuster what should i open it with??

You don't open the bin file, you use a flash utility to program it into your flash ROM. Please read the FAQs on the main www.wimsbios.com site or look at the sites pointed to in the step-by-step reference in the "Collected Wisdom" forum.
Tested patched BIOSes. Untested patched BIOSes.

Ok i got so far that i had the flasher save my old bios now the flasher says source file not found altho the file u sent me is on my A diskette I typed the command correctly I dunno whats wrong this is prob routine for u but for a noob flasher like me :-s can u gimme some advice??

Well i will keep this site in my mind
and i learned also alot about bios stuff i was a total noob in it now im less of a noob :D
anyway thx i really apreciate that u guys do this volonteerly
in my pc store they 'd probably say throw that old junk away and buy a brand new one... (not that i dont want to but i just dun have the $)
