Hello!

I already read the discussion about this Board but I even don't know what to do. My Board is an M6VBE with the VIA692 Chipset. Could I use the update at futjitsusiemens.de or do I need another one?

Thanks!

There is some confusion with the M6VBE from Biostar . Please verify you have the VIA692 chipset with looking onto the big VIA chip on your Board !
> Your Bios is newer than the latest official M6VBE 692 Bios .
The Fujitsu-Siemens update is for 693 chipset .
If you have 693 chipset get a patched Bios ( up to 128GB ) from here :

I'm sorry I have to say that I even don't know what chipset my board has. Looking at the big chip I found this numbers: VT82C596A and 9932CD.
So what to do?

Your BIOS ID includes the numbers "596" and "692". You have found the VT82C596. Can you see another chip with a 692 or a 693 on it ? I'm pretty sure that the chip will say 692 as that's what the BIOS says. So the patched BIOS for 693 won't work. We'll look for a 692 BIOS... It would be a good idea to save your existing BIOS to file using AWD flash utility anyway.

OK, the 692 BIOS is now patched and will be available in a short period at the "untested BIOS" link in my signature.
- Read and follow the instructions for whichever flash utility you decide to use, if you decide to use it.
- You flash at your own risk.
- Please provide feedback if you use it.

North bridge (692/693) has usually heatsink on it and it's often glued to the chip so it's not easy to read the number(s).

The M6VBE 692 or 693 and the M6VBE-A with 693A have no heat sinks so it should be easily to identify .
I would suggest not to flash the patched version from NickS as he used the latest available upgrade from Biostar 3/99 and the installed one is 7/99 .
If my information is correct the 7/99might be an early Bios for 693 chipset despite having 692 in the ID .

The 07/06/1999 is really weird BIOS - it has a bit modified HDD handling routine so AWD64GB can't patch it. :(

@Rainbow: can SiSoft Sandra tell the difference between 692 and 693, or can you suggest a utility ?
