Can anyone please point me in the right direction?

I have an IBM PC300GL, model number 6282-860 into which I am tryng to fit a MAxtor Fireball 3 40gb hard drive.

However, the bios only recognises 8056 mb.

I take it this needs a bios update?

OK, if so, how do I find out which motherboard / bios it is? Does anyone know?

Have tried looking for the bios numbers on startup as suggested elsewhere, this does not come up.

Have tried finding marking s on the moboard; cannot see any - although might be missing them!

Any help given would be appreciated!

Thankyou!

Have you tried IBM's websites for support ? If you've got a model number I would have thought that would be the first place to start. :)
Tested patched BIOSes. Untested patched BIOSes.
