MSI MS-5169 REV:2.1
51-0906-000000-00101111-071599-41E_43C-MS5169-T99-0
AMI BIOS

Got this board from a friend patched with the 3.7 bios from the link above. Says it's for revision 4.0 only, but it seems to work fine. It's got a 32GB size limitation and I was wondering if someone could patch it for me? I need 40GB support, but would prefer 80GB if possible for future compatibility.

Thank you for your time. :)

There is a 3.8 Beta supporting bigger HDD - you have to ask MSI Tech support for this Bios .

From a readme file I have :

AMIBIOS Date 02.08.2001
This is the AMIBIOS version 3.8 Beta3 for the
MSI MS-5169 mainboard (only PBC 2.x and higher)
- fixed CD-ROM / DVD-ROM boot issues
- probably several other unknown fixes

If you have an answer from MSI Tech support please report back !

I sent off an email to support@msi.com.tw, will let you know if they reply.

Does no one have this beta bios available for download anywhere? If not, they should. ;)

Well I got back a generic response. I got a big Excel file showing how to ID components, saying to check their website & forum, read the manual, etc.

Only thing I found in their forum said to use the 32GB jumper which I already have been doing. I need the extra space though.

At the end it said to reply if I still needed an answer so I went ahead and did that.
