I have a system here with Windows 2000 Professional that doesn't shutdown when I choose shutdown from the start menu.
It does quit Windows, but then I get a blinking cursor in the top left of the screen.
It's a Gigabyte GA 686-LX in a 19 inch rack.
Could it be that there are some cables wrong ?
Maybe a BIOS setting ?
PC will not shut down ?

Installed with ACPI activated in the bios? Latest bios? Just to mention a few possible problems. Another thing, check the board for bad capacitors, it is from the risky timeframe.

Hi, may be your pc has some cable problems, or it can be happening because your pc must hang much?
