For v6.00PG Award BIOS'ses which use 640x480 graphic display mode during POST you can just use 4 bit standard windows bitmaps. No need to make any special Award bitmaps at all. A customized palette is allowed and the dimensions should be up to 640x480. Some older Award BIOS'ses even change the black...

Most likely it is the power supply.

What's the Ampare rating at the +12V rail?

You should have at least 20~25A @ 12V for adequate power (the wattage of most psu's isn't relevant: for example, a 350W Enermax PSU powers up to 27A@12V while a 550W Qtec has only 15A@12V).

Hi, you can download the utility from my page http://www.ruisch.tk , look at the download section. It's version 2.00 rel: 2002, from Phoenix Technologies LTD. Furthermore, the BNOBTC has been moved some time ago to http://bnobtc.pix-art.com/ . Of course you can also download it from there but afaik ...

2 sectors did not update , the message was No Update
Sounds like the Boot Block wasn't overwritten during the flash update (lucky you :) ).

Do you've already tried recovering the BIOS by using the Boot Block?

AMI BIOS has to count memory in MB instead of KB

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone knows how to get an AMI BIOS (core 7) count the installed memory in MB (Mega Bytes) instead of KB (Kilo Bytes)? The memory check is in most cases just below the CPU message : AMD Athlon(tm) XP 3200+ Checking NVRAM.. 1048576KB OK DEL:Setup F11:Boot Menu F12:Network boot TA...

Try another floppy/floppydrive/fddcable. If your ob floppycontroller is bad then you're in really bad luck since there seems no way of recovering possible in that case. Only a hotswap or new BIOS chip could be a solution. Btw: there are also v6.00PG Boot Block BIOS'ses that may request a CD, DVD or ...

Hi,

prepare a bootable floppydisk with Award flash, BIOS file and AUTOEXEC.BAT file with flashinstructions. Example:

AWDFLASH.EXE BIOS.BIN /py /sn /sb

Furthermore, you'll just see the flashing process and when it finishes. You won't hear 4 beeps, that's for the AMIBIOS Boot Block.

AMIBIOS New Setup Utilities, configuration tools

Hi, does anybody know how I can get one of the utilities to configure the 'New Setup Utilities v3.3x' of AMIBIOS? (most board with AMIBIOS from 2002 or later use this type of Setup engine) I saw a picture of a DOS based utility at a document of my MSI KT6 Delta mainbaord: http://members.home.nl/jsru...

rajib_raju, please be carefull when updating your BIOS! Beware of the ASRock BIOS structure. Do only flash if you're 100% sure the modified BIOS will work. No testing, trying, or doubts, it'll kill your board. Since ASRock cutted out the recovery routine of the Boot Block there's no way to recovery ...

Hi, the Boot Block BIOS is requesting flash recovery. Most probably there's some hardware causing the issue (memory) or the System Block / Main Block of the BIOS is corrupted. Restore the BIOS by using flash recovery routine for Award BIOS: www.ruisch.tk or http://members.home.nl/jsruisch/BIOS_Flash...

AFAIK this file is the language file for Award 6.00PG based BIOS'ses and is used in POST and Setup. When you change the strings you can use the space of the already existing string and the other space left for that value (in most cases fillt with spaces (20h)). I don't know how to "create more space...

P.S.: the 0700 message is just a number, indicating the core version. Please note that it's actually not the core version itself. The core itself is "in" the ROM structure, runtime/INIT/POST code, etc. (the BIOS core is not just a few numbers).

Neither I, nor AMI want to kid you. AMIBIOSC is shortened for AMIBIOS main ROM Checksum. 0700 is the core version number that's part of the main ROM checksum. If you don't believe, check it yourself. Change one of the characters of AMIBIOS0700 (for example AMIBIOS0900) and you'll see the ROM image s...
