Would somebody be so kind and post a working link for the Powerleap L2 cache enabling utility? I am running Windows XP on a TP 600E but would like to have the one for Linux, too. I had downloaded something called cacheutility.zip and it gave me a blue screen and didn't work at all. The Powerleap.exe...

How can you explain this? I formatted 30 GB of a 60 GB harddrive (FAT32) using a Windows XP installation CD, with no problems. I then decided to reinstall everything again but only had a Win98SE CD. What happened? I was unable to format. After a very, very slow 4 or 5% format, it jumped back to 0%. ...

That's it: change value to "01"

I did it with my 600X as a test and it worked. (1st column, 3rd row)

Are you sure you unscrewed everything? There are screws in the bottom casing and there shouold also be a screw on top, where the keyboard is (I think? I don't have a 770Z but I take it a 600X is not that far away in design). The harddrive cover should also be removed, as well as the CD/DVD drive. On...

Did you get your BIOS working again? I have also used Uniflash 1.40. The last thing I was trying to hotswap was a notebook BIOS. Uniflash did recognize the chip but was unable to write to it properly. I also had the flash utility provided by the notebook manufacturer but it would only work in the no...

squink, I am not sure I understand what you are saying. L2 cache is enabled by default in any TP 600E. We are disabling L2 cache manually in order to boot with a Pentium III CPU, which the board would not normally accept. After the system is up, running on a Pentium III CPU with L2 cache disabled to...

squink, if Sharedoc was talking about the same byte as the one for the 127 error, then I know it's the 3rd row, 1st column. Since this was a problem involving both disabling L2 cache and TrackPoint I thought Sharedoc might be talking about another place in the table. But that has to be it because it...

Sharedoc,
If you change byte 20H
I couldn't find an "H" in my CMOS table. Letters only run to "F".

I have a TP 600E, 2645 4A0.

What kind of an explanation is there for a drive that can't be formatted? I used a diagnostic tool from Seagate and it found bad sectors. I didn't go ahead and correct the bad sectors before contacting the dealer I got it from. Do you think that if I let the tool correct the bad sectors the drive wi...

Just thought of something in regards to your second USB port.

Have you people thought of wiring a USB 2.0 PCMCIA card directly into the PCMCIA bus?

I am not sure if you would then have to disable 1 PCMCIA port for that or if it's possible to just add a PCMCIA thing to the bus.

Just an idea.

Sharedoc, Thanks for your help. I have been doing some research with my TP 600X. I have the ThinkPad Configurator installed and have been doing the changes software-based and looking at what changes actually occur in the CMOS table inside EasySetup. Wow! Really crazy stuff! I have the feeling values...

Were you looking for this? http://powerleap.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/powerleap.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?&p_faqid=1521&p_created=1049321145 I can remember downloading this and getting some sort of error because it would only work with Pentium III CPUs. I was, of course, just trying it out with my Pent...

Hi, I am having the same problem. Although I still haven't changed any values, this would be my problem, too. What I did yesterday was, I disconnected the BIOS battery for 2 or 3 minutes and the 8611 error was gone. The TrackPoint is still unusable, it has actually gone mad! I still haven't started ...

Hi, I am trying to get a TP 600E to boot without error 8611 (TrackPoint). I learned from another thread that by changing value "02" to "01" in the CMOS hex-editor (3rd row, 1st column), I would be able to disable the TrackPoint in my TP 600E. The same value "02" changed to "0A" is supposed to disabl...
