Re: 80GB: i440x-2A69KD1KC-00
the 40GB hdd should work fine. just leave the 400GB hdd unconfigured (set it to NONE) in the BIOS, it will be detected by the OS anyway (either XP with SP2+ or any recent Linux (-kernel) will work fine) make sure to autodetect the 40GB HDD once and set its access mode to LBA. before the installation...

Re: Flashed my BIOS and now Windows restarts all the time
Windows starts fine, but the system reboots completely after a couple of minutes. If I enter safe mode, it does not reboot. sounds very much like a driver or service related problem. completely uninstall the SIS driver and give the vesa driver a go. if the systems keeps rebooting check cpu temperat...

Re: I Need Update VBIOS for SIS 650 in Asus Notebook
1920x1080 isn't possible with SiS' Windows drivers. the updated BIOS just allows 1440x900 (1680x1050 should work but there are some reports that it doesn't). buy a pci/agp/pcie vga card or switch over to Linux with its 3rd party driver that allows you to set virtually any resolution you can imagine.

Re: GA-8ld833 Award Bios Mod. Help please
you can remove the VGA, too. but then you can't 'see' the machine booting or change any bios settings unless you add a agp/pci vga card or flash a bios which includes the VGA module again. maybe the OS drivers can initialize the VGA chip so it can be used once the OS is loaded. but that's just pure ...

Re: What is the point of a vga to hdmi cable?
There's no such thing like a VGA (15 pin SubD) to HDMI cable because - as you already found out - their signals are incompatible. You can however get a converter box to convert the analog VGA signals to digital HDMI signals. Those boxes start at around 30EUR but the quality of the converted signal w...

Re: Ancient 07/23/1998-i440BX-W977TF-2A69KJ1CC-00: 80GB HDD?
if you attach the 80GB hdd to the add-on pci card your BIOS related issues are none since the pci card has its own BIOS which is not affected by a 32GB/64GB detection bug. just make sure you have the latest Highpoint BIOS installed on that card. still i really recommend migrating to Windows XP (or a...

Re: Ancient 07/23/1998-i440BX-W977TF-2A69KJ1CC-00: 80GB HDD?
if you install W2K make sure to have at least SP4 installed. it'll support LBA and large HDDs without any BIOS modifications (and updates).

Re: Could you help hack DFI UT X58 BIOS to support Xeon E5504 ES
The CPU initialization routines are not in the microcode updates. They are code blocks themselves somewhere in the BIOS. You have to disassemble the BIOS, find the correct routines (manageable) and flip the right bits. The last could be a bit difficult since you need NDA-ified CPU register documents...

Re: Ancient 07/23/1998-i440BX-W977TF-2A69KJ1CC-00: 80GB HDD?
consider moving to a more recent OS like at least Windows XP or any recent Linux since they support large HDD sizes out of the box even if the BIOS does not. if you migrate then you don't need a bios update. if you have to stay with Windows 98 you'll need all >64GB patches for Windows 98 and a patch...
