Have just killed my m/b bios. Went to flash, worked ok to 2/3rds then stopped loading. comp now keeps beeping. Board is a MSI 6191 ver 1.
Bios is ami. Runs on a slot a 1g proc. Got latest bios of msi site version 1.6. Changed bios file to amiboot.rom, talked to floppy ok but then went back to beeping as before. Tried all other listed bios's for board ver 1.1 to 1.6 inc, no joy.

Bios id given as 62-0107-000000-00101111-071595 irongate

date 02/08/01

chipset amd 751 rev 37

winbond 83977atf port 3f0h.

Does any one know from info what bios I should be loading and where to get it from.

Any help much appreciated.

Does the board read the file? Have you waited long enough for the flashing to complete?

Yes it runs thro about 2/3rds of the download from the floppy and then just locks out and starts giving beep codes in sets of 7 at a time. Have waited a long time in case its slow loading but no joy. This board I was given was a TIME comp so I,m begining to wonder if it has a custom built bios in it. Does anyone know wether i could just put a new flash chip in it and create a new bios completly..?

You can try to hot-flash the chip http://rainbow.ht.st/hardware/hotflash.html

Remove the chip from the board and hot-flash it in another board. Or have it flashed somewhere (electronics shop).
