I've got a PC-Chips M577 mainboards and I've been trying to solve some problems with its BIOS, as some of you may alreday know. The question is, can I replace the 128Kb (1Mbit) flash EEPROM chip on my motherboard by a 256Kb (2Mb) one, rearranging the BIOS code (bootblock, decompressor, original.tmp, etc.) and get it work?

You can pu the chip there - if the board supports 128KB chips only, you will be able to flash only 128KB of the chip. The BIOS will work but not properly because it does not know how to write to 256KB chips.
