bought a generic board for a rare Tualitin chip. Tried everything I can to pause the bootup so i can write down the bios string.
i do press the pause key but it only pauses after the string disappears.
took out the keyboard
pressing a key continually also doesn't work.
are there any other ways to pause the screen ?
there is no option in bios to "halt on all errors"
thank you very much.

it is a ami bios... i will try the bios identifier utility but would still appreciate some other possible ways to pause the bootup screen to read the string. Thanks

power down, disconnect keyboard, power up, usually that will generate a keyboard error and give you time to read it.

I tried that one. No go. Probably because there is no Halt on Keyboard error option in bios.
thanks

We will have to do a visual ID then. Any markings that look like a model number?

Absolutely no markings whatsoever. I have not used the ami diag yet.
Thanks for the reply and will keep you updated.

You should use Everest Home Edition. Maybe it detects model automatically.
