When it boots up with the IBM screen, everything is fine and visible -- the whole screen. Just when you boot into WIndows XP it gets so faint, that I cannot even see windows coming up. I use an alternate monitor could see the installation etc. It is a new installation of XP and this thinkpad hasn't ever had XP on it previously. I updated the video drivers in XP with the ones recommended for this laptop. ibmtplcd.inf and used the ibmtpflx and ibmtplcd for the color management.
I have tried the Fn + HOME key combination and need alternate tips.
Right now I am tempted to put Linux or something else on it, but am now so intrigued to figure out what might be happening. I want to use it as a wireless station and already validated (with the separate monitor) that it works. The point of a laptop is not to have to have to take additional monitors around with you -- ha ha.
It is starting to not be too funny as this system doesn't have a CD-ROM , so I have had to get creative to get the XP install files on there then run them after having to make boot disks. This simple upgrade is starting to grade on me.

Any assistance would be awesome.
