Have a SiS 741 (6330 integrated video) . The BIOS does not provide for more than 80 column wide text modes :=(
Is there a solution, such as BIOS upgrade (dubious) or a DOS TSR program?
Could someone provide documentation for programming and selecting the SiS VClocks ?
Desperate - Please help !

text modes on the SiS
For the record I found whatever bits I needed by studying the C-language source of the SiS driver for the Linux kernel :=)
What astounds me is why nobody on this board cared to reply my query in the first place. I guess this was not the right place for a serious question too.

Every so often, we want to do some background checks before answering "we don't know". It is not that we don't care. Sometimes you have to wait for an answer. It's all volunteers here, we don't get paid to do this.

Fair enough, Edwin. It's just, sometimes you may have to wait for a /long/ time : I posted the same question, more or less, on Sat Jul 16, 2005edwin wrote: we want to do some background checks before answering "we don't know". It's been almost four years, nobody ever replied - albeit to acknowlege receiving the question or ask for precisions (maybe my English is not that clear ?) I turned the page and really forgot I had asked here until a search found the old question on the site today :=)Post subject: video modes tweaking for SiS (and other) chipsets ?
.....
is there a program around for "tweaking" video modes on the integrated SiS chipsets ? I like working in *text* modes with *more* columns (say, 132 c.)
Thank you for your kind reply !
