Forgive me my bad English...

A friend of mine has gotten a pc from someone he knows. But it had WinXP on it, which didn't ran well. So I installed Win98 for him but now the driver for his soundcard is gone. It is a on-board soundcard.

But without the model number I can't find the sounddriver, the brand is Chaintech.

The bios installed is 03/23/2000-694X-686A-JA6LJC4CC-00.

i tried searching everywhere, but can't find it.

There is something weird about the bios ID, the C4 doesn't show up in any list, but out of pure frustration I tried C3 which is Chaintech. I recognized the Chaintech logo, it resides on the motherboard so I know for sure it's a Chaintech.

Can anybody help me find the model, perhaps even find the sound driver for this MoBo?

thanks

MAybe a Chaintech 6AJA4 -model number should be printed on either the motherboard or onto a small sticker next to the Bios Flashrom

OnBoard sound may be a CMedia CMI8738 PCI Soundchip or VIA AC97.

No, no succes. however I discovered it is indeed a Chaintech 6AJA4, but I noticed in the bios it said Legacy sound on-board, isn't this the AC97 sound dirver?

And if so, can someone post it here cause I can't download it from the chaintech website.

6AJA4 comes with CMedia 8738 Audio Subsystem.
