Try using DDO instead of upgrading BIOS
I just installed a 60 GB HD successfully to my old system with Award 4.51PG BIOS. Go to IBM's Website to download a utility software called Disk Manager 2000. It will let you install HD drive>32GB into a system with old BIOS.

Thanks Rainbow, I DL the BIOS, I'll have another try. By the way, do you have any idea about the manufacturer? Have they gone busted? I tried to find their Website to find a manual for the mobo without results.
