Hello everybody,

I got a Gigabyte BX2000 (ver1.1) with DUAL BIOS. There's some
strange problem with this board:

It functions normally without any problem, but if I enter the BIOS-Setup
it freezes. The BIOS-Setup screen is displayed, an then its gone. The keyboard doesn't respond anymore. I have to hard reset the board.
So I can't change the BIOS settings.

I got the latest BIOS from Gigabyte (F9) and I also tried an earlier BIOS (F8D), but the problem remains.

Does anybody have an idea, what I could do?

Best regards

Does it freeze in Bios main menu or in a specific submenu ?
PS/2 keyboard or USB ?

I have seen similar freezes with Abit boards - üroblem here was the CPU-fan. The Biso was not able to read the rpm or the signal was distorted so the Bios freezed.

Try to remove the cpu-fan (or any other fan connected voa motherboard) and try. Do not try too long without CPU-fan !

The BIOS freezes in the BIOS Main Menu.
I use a PS/2-Keyboard, I cannot try out an usb keyboard, because
I don't have one.
Maybe its only the keyboard controller which crashes, symptoms
would be the same, I think.

The cpu fan - good idea! I will try out the board without any fan and with different fans.

Thanks for the hints!
