MS 6154 saga....Help

I posted earlier and was pointed in the right direction but the
problems continue.Had to format my Hd and now XP Home edition will not load.Tried
loading W98 and no problem.This HD had XP upgrade operating
before this format but refuses to allow me to load XP either as a clean
install
or upgrade.No error messages it just does not go beyond the first shutdown
phase.
Any ideas?

Run a memory diagnostic, like Goldmem.
